Beekeeping, also know as apiculture, is the care and maintenance of bee colonies, most often the European honey bee (Apis mellifera). Although there are many, many insect species, most do not have a social nature. They don’t lend themselves to long-term study or maintenance and even fewer provide the by-products to help support the activities.

We’ve been fascinated by bees for years. Our activities started as a hobby to observe some of the most interesting insects around. This quickly developed into a business and Belcher Bees was formed. Our main product is honey for local sale. We also do some speaking engagements, bee sales, swarm captures, and even a few removals.

Learning is a life-long process. The ever-changing, complex environment in and around the hive is challenging, yet relaxing. The behavior and reactions to stimuli always have beekeepers aware of their actions and surroundings. The constant research available in the field of bees provides many opportunities to learn and apply that knowledge.
